The hentai is inspired by eroge with the same name developed by Silky’s, a well-known label belonging to famous producer Elf. The eroge was released on May 31, 2002.

Pink Pineapple and Sofgare, released their first animated episode on June 27, 2003. With a total of three episodes, Shitai wo Arau’s controversial adaptation ended on January 23, 2004.

Story

The dream of Seiji Yasaka, a ronin, is to become a doctor, something which he wants so badly to fulfill that he joins a hospital as a part-time corpse washer. He falls in love with Nurse Yūki Midō, but Chigusa Tsuyusaki, the hospital’s deputy director, wants him for her own. Everything goes well until suddenly he realizes that all of the nurses are in fact dead bodies (part of a project to bring them back to life) and then he finds out that he is also already one of the walking dead. With the walking dead, the body isn’t a problem, but the mind on the other hand gets corrupted easily…

  4. Each OVA is named “Case”, which could be a reference to the characters’ medical cases.
  5. Shitai wo Arau The Animation has several differences compared to its original game, with its ending being the most notable, as it does not appear in any route of the eroge.
  6. Some time after its release, an uncensored version titled “El Limpiador de Cuerpos” was released with Spanish dubbing.
  7. The mental and physical degeneration that Seiji goes through during the hentai may be a reference to Cotard’s syndrome, a medical disorder in which the patient believes he is dead.
  8. Due to its psychedelic and dark atmosphere, as well as its sensitive themes such as necrophilia, Shitai wo Arau The Animation is considered one of the most controversial hentai in history.
